the discussion of consequentialism opposed to absolutism is spot on, how so many of our problems are optional, artificial, and being dealt with one way or another over time.

i think this video essay expresses something at the heart of progressivism that is rarely discussed -- positive changes are possible, and they may take some time to become strong, with incremental improvements happening along the way -- incremental improvements that are easily within legislative reach but opposed by those who may even agree with a progressive's ultimate goals yet think we must solve everything all at once or the entire approach is completely invalid.
