(95,243 posts)People under such stress as many labor under nowadays may well do foolish things.
I bow to no one in cold hatred for people who assisted this cheap thug into office, but your title here is not appropriate.

(57,013 posts)from our executive government, and there are members here who are going to die of this crap because they were misinformed and afraid. And the Trumpviris is spread a lot more tha it needed to be.
I wouldn't wish this on anyone, and I will mourn the needlessly dead if I make it through this myself:
I live in Texas, in a county that's only voluntarily self quarantining so that's against me, I am fighting cancer, I've had pneumonia/bronchitis a lot (spent the week after Thanksgiving in a hospital for 'rhinovirus' that when I would cough I'd pass out), and I'm old.
Hopefully its not four strikes and I'm out. Someone's family is grieving because what has been a source of information lied and that person - the POTUS - told him to get a hold of Chloroquine. And like someone else has pointed out - we do not know if he was a Trump supporter or not.
Its not funny at all for me.
Just saying.

(25,816 posts)I am pointing out the utter stupidity.
There is no excuse for being misinformed.
I keep on getting into fights on FB because people insist on posting totally wrong bullshit of all kinds. These days it's related to the Corona virus. In the past it's been any other of a number of things. I'm constantly telling people, "The internet is your friend" and pointing out they should double check anything they get sent to them that seems good and worth re-posting. Chances are, if it came to you that way, it's totally bogus. Since the information is out there, I'm sorry, but someone who just blindly consumes poison is not deserving of sympathy.

so that part is really unfair.
All we know is that they were frightened and read something stupid on the internet, that fish tank cleaner/koi fish treatment was the same drug they'd need a prescription for that no sane doctor would prescribe for them, and this might prevent a very scary illness.
This is tragic and it's not the only example of frightened people reading damaging misinformation and acting on it.
This gives a great description of why chloroquine and hydroxychloroquine should be used off label only in the hospital. I would hope that people who are frightened and desperate enough to want to try it at home watch this video, but I know this couple won't be the only and certainly not the last people to try it.
