Related: About this forumScott Brown Staffers Mock Warren With ‘Tomahawk Chop’ And ‘War Whoop’
http://thinkprogress.org/election/2012/09/25/904581/warren-brown-tomahawk-chop/As part of his re-election campaign, Sen. Scott Brown (R-MA) has attacked his opponent for mischaracterizing herself as Native American. Elizabeth Warren does have Cherokee ancestry, but Brown claims she abused that to gain a professional advantage by listing herself as a minority.
Perhaps Browns sensitivity to the issue ends there. On Tuesday, a video surfaced of Brown staffers doing a tomahawk chop and making war whoop sounds at Warren supporters, an apparent allusion to the dust up over Warrens heritage. The incident occurred outside of a pub in Boston on Friday.

(6,960 posts)Really.
Advocates for a candidate don't engage in this kind of boorish behavior unless they are feeling dispirited.
Forget the polls .... Brown knows he is on a downward trajectory.

Moonwalk
(2,322 posts)...it's just gone down the toilet. His staffers have turned his attempted attack on Warren pretending to be an entitled minority into anti-Native American racism. (Of course, all such attacks are racist, but the aim is to disguise it as anger against unfairness so that you at least seem to have a valid point).
And given that Americans used to name their sports teams after Native American tribes, mocking them is a double-edged sword; if voters identify as much with the Indians as the Cowboys then any mockery of them is going to hurt Brown.

(13,989 posts)No big deal...both sides do it. Right Scotty boy?
Numbskull.
Ah, but then while he is surrounded by news media he throws out more random accusations...
Was that the plan all along?

(62,325 posts)he made it clear he was not the one in the debate who wanted to talk about issues that affect the voters. It made him look childish, and it was obviously prepared. What people want are candidates who are prepared to address the serious issues people are facing, NOT who are only prepared to personally attack their opponents.
Generic Other
(28,979 posts)Those Brown supporters may think that picking on one woman's Indian ancestry when she is the only Indian in the crowd makes them look like big brave white guys, but if they tried that out where I lived, I think they might be shocked to discover how many tribal members with white ancestry would be ready to shove those tomahawk gestures right up their asses.
