I wish I could give credit, but can't remember who said it, for the observation that the Rich have lost any interest in investing in the future of the nation, and largely even their own industries, and are just "mining our economy for capital." Through tax cuts, privatization, union busting, and deregulation (especially of Wall Street), they're just grabbing all the money from our economy that they can, resulting in a wealth gap that's looking more and more like that of a third world country, where there aren't enough cops to patrol the streets and high walls, barbed wire, and hired guards are what protects the Rich and their ill-gotten gains from the working public.

Edit: oh yeah, "harvesting".

I've been saying to my Repug friends for months that the only reason Romney wants to be President is so he can 'Bain US'. His greatest wish is to get his hands on the Treasury so he can 'outsource' everything to his Corporate handlers. He looks at the trillions of dollars in cash flow and all he sees is a chance to make a profit on it...now we see 'his' word for it: 'HARVEST'. Guess they thought that was kinder than Slaughter.

Buyout of America: How Private Equity Is Destroying Jobs and Killing the American Economy

This site is intended to pick up where the Buyout of America book leaves off.

We would like it to be a forum where we tell you what is presently going on with private equity companies and the private equity debate.

Hilarious, and largely accurate, video on how private equity firms hurt small business owners.

ProPublica does a nice job in September showing how Romney often bought profitable businesses that could handle debt, not companies needing turnarounds. The article also highlights how Bain often used outside brokers to find companies to buy and then did not pay them after it bought those businesses.

<...>

This doesn't jibe with his campaign persona.

Nice job, EarlG.
This is an even worse side to the richy-rich attitude that Romney displays.

"I bought some shirts from Costco."

Yeah, sure.
Sure you did.

And yet somehow half the population was duped by our spineless media into believing that he will do a better job of handling this bullshit economy better than Obama. Nope - he'll just gut America and sell it to the highest bidder like he did with Bain. You know what - you get what you vote for.
