I didn't know the details of her departure from FauxNews, and I'm grossed out even more than I already was about her. What a disgusting person. I was thinking that it's fortunate that she doesn't have children, and then discovered that she does. I feel bad for her 14 year old son.

It amazes me she was once married to Gavin Newsome. Was she a Dem then?

in Supreme Court, court rules you can not, then he is open to all Federal charges. Even a 6-3 conservative court would have difficulty with a president issued pardon to himself. So the only 100% safe way would to resign now and pence issues the pardon.

I think this is the memo Mayer discusses in the interview.

Trump simply steps aside for a moment, per Section 3 of the Twenty-Fifth Amendment, while Pence fills out the pardon paperwork. When Pence is done issuing the pardon, Trump re-assumes office.

Ordering the execution of Trump and pardoning himself? That’s one big can of worms to open up.

Killing US Prez wasn't a federal crime when JFK was murdered but a 1965 law changed it to a Federal Crime.

Pence is sworn in as president. Immediately diagnosed with Covid before he chooses vice-president. Is rushed to hospital and put on a ventilator. Cannot communicate. Pelosi becomes president. No pardon.

Don't actually know the protocols under that scenario but, if it did happen that way I would scream with laughter.

Ms. Mayer was pretty clear that Trump has the power to "prospectively pardon" people like Ivanka for any crimes that she might have already committed. I wonder if anyone knows the legal basis for her opinion, since I thought that a person had to first be convicted of a crime before they could even become eligible for a pardon.

Otherwise, a President could start his term by issuing blanket prospective pardons to all his minions, and then it's bombs away for the next four years. There must be a firewall against a scenario as ridiculous as that one, but I don't know what it is.
