(56,353 posts)based on a faith and tell me this doesn't hold a people to ridicule over things others don't understand. Sorry, this is wrong and mean spirited. I speak as a Lutheran and there are some things about my faith that could be ridiculed by Mormons. Now Baptists ..........

(25,183 posts)that don't fit into a general framework of how most religious people try to treat one's fellow human being with dignity, or worship an invisible skyfather. They certainly are ripe for the pickings.
There's a series of books, the first of which is "Growing Up Catholic" that both present and former Catholics find hilarious. Part of having a religion is to deal with the fact that there are aspects of that religion that are very, very odd to people outside of it, and even to many people who are or have been inside of it.

(56,353 posts)Compare this with the original post, and is it all religions deserve hate speech and if so then do you think this is free speech (no difference between free speech and hate speech) or is a matter of degree: a little bit of hate is AOK, but ix-nay on outrageous speech. Hate speech is hate speech (in my opinion) and is not protected (Supreme Court's opinion).
