Never Forgive the Threat Of Authoritarianism -- Never Forget

No, we're not saved.
No, we're not done with politics.
No one election stops anything.
No one president like Biden will save us.

Fascists start from fiction, clear the horizon of facts and science, and then they erode institutions.

Starting from fiction, there's no such thing as lying because there's no such thing as truth.

There is no such thing as the Republican Party. The platform is who they are -- Trumpfascists who decide who the enemy is. They use chants of tribes, myths and stories of the "other."

Trump is a result, not a cause of our problems, and there remain, permanently, putins and oligarchs to help bring that along.

Remember that at this point we are one election away from losing democracy.

Each of us must take breaks, and must not use exhaustion, grief and struggle as an excuse to stop or "move on."
Do one good thing to use what we know regularly, help improve information sharing that keeps the democratic network working.

We must always assume that we will continue to experience regime change until we exhaust the right wing of corporate authoritarian forces.

This is what we have to do, too, for climate crisis decades ahead.

1. Yes, never forget. But forgiveness is about the forgiver letting go. Can forgive & still prosecute.

Letting go of the emotion. Which is why I advocate getting rid of hot hate (unhealthy) and replacing it with cold loathing (neutral emotionally, and no impediment to clear thinking and determination).

You can forgive someone, as in "they were too psychologically warped to want to do anything else", but still prosecute them to the full extent of the law to provide an example and deterrence to others.

3. And behind it all (usually), you can find Big Business

Hitler, Mussolini, Franco, Marcos and Pinochet didn't just rise to power by ranting and raving.

They did it the old fashioned way: with massive support from Big Business - either in the form of campaign contributions (Wall Street's role in laundering and investing Nazi money as early as 1927 is often forgotten);

or though the finance of coups, and, conversely, financing destabilization efforts against left-wing incumbents in their way.

6. Yes. It's actually their "calling." And they can do it across generations of humans.
