(47,383 posts)This trying to give Trump his fair share of the credit for the vaccine rollout is getting really tedious. Like Cooper said, if he wants some of the credit, he needs to take his share of the blame.

(15,751 posts)I don't think he could have been much worse. Meanwhile, research and development on a vaccine would have happened without him, as the need was urgent and many countries were involved. The whole world didn't revolve around Donald J. Trump.

(9,234 posts)How or why there is any confusion on this is beyond me.

(47,383 posts)a story where none exists. They can't be seen as too laudatory toward the current administration. This trying to create a balance between the parties, so as not to appear biased is really tiresome, dishonest, and unprofessional. Though I think many actually do it to get public recognition and probably don't care so much about being impartial. They want their name to be highlighted; media people often talking even when they really have nothing to say.
Journalists are suppose to report the news, but too often they create news because controversy sells.

(42,770 posts)said that drug companies have been doing all the background work on corona virus vaccines for many years. Not like they just started when trump snapped his fingers.
That said,. There's a mountain of blame and an anthill, in my opinion, of credit he may deserve. Think he did pressure FDA. But that's like saying I killed a half million people but not the person hiding in the closet so praise me!
Do think we are missing an opportunity tho with his supporters. Just wouldn't know how to word it

(47,383 posts)The drug companies were not sitting around waiting for some go-ahead signal from Donald Trump. "Such a dilemma, should we be trying to find a vaccine for this worldwide virus or just wait for President Trump's input? Oh dear, what to do, what to do." Meanwhile, the fool was aggressively pushing Hydroxychloroquine as a miraculous cure.
In Trump's pathetic little brain, he probably thinks he was a hero, but as you say the science behind these vaccines has been in development for years. If he wasn't so intellectually incurious, he would have known that. Of course, even if he did know it, he would have used this opportunity to benefit himself politically.
As for his supporters, a whole lot of billboards like this one could be effective, at least for some:

(42,770 posts)doesn't believe trump ever even had the virus. Nope on Malaria either.
Too bad we'll probably never see the simple "positive" results.

(47,383 posts)They are so in-your-face and if you drive the same route every day, you keep seeing the same message.
Oh, I think Trump had COVID, but he lied about how easily he overcame it. I saw his face after he climbed those stairs and he clearly was experiencing respiratory distress. He got the best available healthcare in the world at the time and then tried to tell everyone, "See its no big deal. If I can overcome it, so can you." He put on a damn show while the rest of the country was suffering and people were dying. He sees everything, good or bad, as an opportunity to benefit himself.
Meanwhile, the White House at the time was a coronavirus hot spot and I think its possible more people got sick than has been reported.

(10,150 posts)its distribution and delivery, much like Ron DeSantis has been doing in Florida. Had the POS been re-elected he would be implementing the same rapacious pay-to-vaccine schemes, but on a national scale.

(42,770 posts)off 70 mill supporters. Maybe just keeping nose to ground only option. Demonstrating order and logistics skills? And reminding everyone what we are doing to improve distribution. Not sure why we have to wait til May to roll out a massive roll out push.
