She has been raised to believe in her very heart and soul that the bobble is the word of god, the great creator, who loves mankind so much that he demands absolute obedience to his word. What that word is is something dreamed up by the mf’s who drilled into this lady’s head from childhood that god’s word is the source of all wisdom and good and that to stray from it in any way leads you to hell where that loving god will spit-roast you slowly and relish your screams for all eternity.
So, convinced by the morons she listens to on TV, the radio, and in her church of choice, she yet also trusts and likes Oprah. But Oprah is saying things god -- according to this lady’s brain-washed ideology, anyway -- despises. but how can god be all good and Oprah is good too but what she’s saying will get god so angry he’ll send her to hell, but all she’s saying is she loves all people and isn’t that what god is supposed to be . . . . It’s that Star Trek episode where Kirk causes the computer to melt down when confronted by conflicting demands.
It’s a melt down. She can’t reconcile the 2 divergent beliefs and is terrified that she’s been on the wrong path her entire life. I hope she emerges from this crisis of conscience a better person, but it seems more likely that she’ll go back home to the applause of the ignorant old-testament “christians” who fucked her up so badly in the first place. Applause for standing up to the devil, doncha know?
