In reality, there's nothing in this bill that explicitly singles out minorities ... HOWEVER ... these assholes gave away the game when they tried to ban Sunday voting. They had to roll that back, but that alerted everyone to what they were really trying to do.
And you know damn well they're going to make sure the lines are LONG in poorer areas, such that people are going to want bottles of water while they wait.
The aspect of these laws that is most offensive they're anti-Democracy, insofar as they set out to make voting harder, and more expensive where possible.

(204,611 posts)They know where and when they vote and certainly how they vote, they didn't do enough to obstruct them during the last election since they came out in unprecedented numbers (thanks Stacey Abrams), so now they're doing anything they can to make turnout by those voters next to impossible. And they couldn't be more obvious to the entire country.

(204,611 posts)It is in other countries and Hillary Clinton advocated it. Even if you plan, there are times when you don't know when you're going to get out of work, the weather or traffic could be bad and many urban voters depend on public transportation - not to mention the lines. I even encountered a long line at my polling place here in rural New York though I thought I showed up early, but it was hardly hours. People have responsibilities and some have health issues. The no excuse absentee ballots that we were all sent thanks to the governor for last year's primary were a Godsend.
