WATCH: Hated Trump Aide Whines That Expanding Voting Rights Could Keep Dems in Power Forever

During a Sunday appearance on Maria Bartiromo’s show, Trump aide Stephen Miller complained that if voting rights are expanded, Republicans may never be in the majority again.

Today, Miller spoke with Maria Bartiromo about H.R. 1, a bill aimed at eliminating Republican voter suppression efforts. The host asked, “That’s the whole point of H.R. 1, Nancy Pelosi wanting to put this bill through so that Democrats are in charge forever or certainly decades. Your thoughts on election integrity and that Democrat [sic] H.R. 1 bill.”

The guest responded, “H.R. 1 is saying, now that we’re in power, let’s fundamentally change the rules of how elections are conducted to stay in power.”

Miller later continued, “That’s a very scary thing,” Miller said. “And so if you care about democracy, you should all say with one voice, no, it is the right of every state in this union to set their own election rules as desired by their own citizens to protect the security and integrity of their own elections. That’s fundamental!”

The GOP is the party of voter suppression. Former CH Rehnquist got his start in GOP politics as a meber of a GOP goon squad in Arizona that challenged non white voters for daring to vote. https://www.sfgate.com/news/article/Rehnquist-on-Voting-Fairness-Chief-Justice-2690688.php

In 1962, Rehnquist was the leader of Operation Eagle Eye, a crew of Republican lawyers who roamed precincts in south Phoenix challenging the qualifications of minority voters. Rehnquist's role in the actual interrogation of blacks and Latinos waiting to vote is murky. At Senate hearings on his nominations to the U.S. Supreme Court in 1971 and to the chief's spot in 1986, Rehnquist denied "challenging the qualifications of any voters."

But several witnesses -- including San Francisco lawyer James Brosnahan -- told a different story.

Brosnahan testified at the 1986 hearings that in 1962, when he was an assistant U.S. attorney in Phoenix, he received complaints that GOP operatives were stalling voters at a heavily Democratic precinct by accusing minorities of being unable to read. Some states had long used literacy tests to prevent minorities from voting, but federal law banned the practice in 1964.

The asshole who formed ALEC and founded the Heritage Foundation was clear on this

The GOP has to cheat to win elections

And the only reason democrats would be in power "forever" is because their policies are what the vast majority of people want. Instead, what we have is institutionalized minority rule thanks to the undemocratic senate, gerrymandering and GOP voter suppression.

or two possibilities would be more accurate -

Either we pass HR1 and Republicans will be out of power for the foreseeable future,

Or we don't pass HR1 and Democrats will be out of power forever, barring a bloody revolution. Or a bloody world war, should other nations think we are worth saving - which I wouldn't count on.

“The things they had in there were crazy. They had things, levels of voting that if you’d ever agreed to it, you’d never have a Republican elected in this country again,” - Trump

"As people do better, they start voting like Republicans - unless they have too much education and vote Democratic, which proves there can be too much of a good thing." - Karl Rove
