(6,911 posts)His act grew stale decades ago. The problem is that he responds to stereotype images of real people. He gets crushed by the folksy act when faced by well-prepared, detailed and professional political artisans.

(49,370 posts)I remember a mean spirited Republican applying that moniker to Senator Sam Irvin, Democrat from North Carolina, who chaired a committee during the Nixon/Warergate. Irvin was "folksy" but he was for real.
