This is from last year, but it still hits hard, especially for people like myself who still feel substantial admiration for Mr Moore.

(42,862 posts)... I cannot stand him. Every time he (or West, or certain other politicians) appeared on Maher, that was motivation for me to complete skip the show. Eventually, I just stopped watching entirely. I'm very glad that Monbiot did such a good job at putting Moore in his place and pointing out Moore's LIES and DISINFORMATION.
In fact I've heard those same lies repeated here at DU. Absurd lies. There was one who complained that the maintenance trucks on a solar-panel farm use more energy than the panels they're servicing. Just absolutely whack-a-doodle stuff.

(46,037 posts)I got an email from Moore telling me he'd be on Maher. I wrote back I wouldn't watch a show with a misogynist host. (That remark wasn't the only sexist one Maher has made.) I guess that didn't matter to Moore.
Oddly enough, he appears to adore Joe Biden, so he's not quite so toxic any more. I'm sure as hell not going to watch this film, though.

(42,862 posts)I started to "emotionally divest" from him when he was in agreement with that Milo Something-Greek guy (whose full name I cannot recall) who was arguing AGAINST allowing transgendered women use the ladies' room. Maher agreed with the troll's reasoning and responded with "well you make a lot of sense" or "I can't argue with that" (or some utterance of agreement).
It was disgusting.

(2,671 posts)I really hated that one because it left me feeling depressed and hopeless, like there's nothing we can do to mitigate the environmental damage we've all done, so why bother?
It is an extreme downer with no good ideas and I regret watching it.

(2,671 posts)I liked Roger & Me, Fahrenheit 9/11, Bowling for Columbine, Fahrenheit 11/9, and Sicko. I am way to the left of center in my political thinking. He can be bumbling and somewhat irritating in his approach, but he exposes problems that need to be exposed.
