Related: About this forumBREAKING: Speaker Nancy Pelosi Delays Vote On Bipartisan Infrastructure Plan - The Last Word - MSNBC
Eugene Robinson says that Speaker Pelosis decision to delay the vote on infrastructure shows House progressives have power to get a framework for the reconciliation that goes beyond the $1.5 trillion that Manchin proposed. Norm Ornstein adds Speaker Pelosi is managing both sides very well and it will come down to the White House and Senate to get this done. Aired on 09/30/2021.

OP
What a relief- now the pressure shifts back to the senate, where it belongs

(8,231 posts)1. Um. You need manchins vote for the reconciliation package
Or are they playing chicken and seeing if he is really willing to kill a bill that is overwhelmingly popular in his state?

(7,447 posts)3. And you need progressive votes
For the BIF.
So three outcomes:
Manchin compromises and we get both bills.
Progressives fold and we get BIF.
Both hold and we get nothing.
First option is the best option imo.

I actually feel optimistic that both bills will pass, and the final package, while not perfect, will be decent and benefit millions of Americans.
Well done Madame Speaker.
