Pramila Jayapal, chair of the Congressional Progressive Caucus, explains how the progressive side of negotiations over President Biden's Build Back Better bill are focused on five key priorities that they want to preserve in the bill as it is scaled back to meet whatever price tag Joe Manchin and Kyrsten Sinema are holding out for. 1. This is the problem - Sinema apparently saying privately she doesn't want any tax increases...

while Manchin seems fine with rolling back the Trump tax cuts.

Sinema also seems opposed to the negotiating drug price part of the bill, which is a big part of the cost saving.

"We thought the 3.5 number was the number that was negotiated" - someone really screwed up this negotiation, I look forward to reading the postmortem articles to find out where things went wrong.
