(2,825 posts)Someone called police about a 'suspicious person' in the neighborhood (most likely scared shitless white snowflake). The young man was knocking on doors just doing his job. Now we know that canvassing for a politician while black is dangerous, too.

(6,265 posts)a black person in a lily-white neighbourhood, very suspicious. Put your hands up or die. A white person in an African-american neighbourhood? Entitled. The former person posing as a president has unleashed his forces of scummy, nasty, dirty, ignorant, ego-driven(I'm right, I'm white) scum of the earth upon decent people. Did I mention racist scum? I am glad I am the age I am because I feel like I am watching, every goddamn day, the demise of democracy. In a lot of places, fascism's evil is in charge and America's rot is showing.

(45,380 posts)GOP often has to pay people to canvass.
It's a lot more risky than it sounds. There are crazy people who point guns at them and yell to get off their property.

This is the prosecutor. He should know better and should have been admonished by the judge.
Keilon Clarmone Hill, 24, was acquitted of misdemeanor harassment of a public official Monday, according to his lawyer, Gina Messamer. The charge came after Hill, who is from Louisiana, was stopped and questioned by West Des Moines police while canvassing for David Young's congressional campaign in October. The exchange was caught on camera.
Clinton Ray, the officer who arrested Hill, testified Monday that he never found evidence that a crime had occurred outside of the alleged harassment. Ray was cleared of any wrongdoing by his department.
Tolbert [the prosecutor] said Hill's refusal to answer questions prevented officers from investigating a possible crime. Hill, holding fliers and dressed in a jacket and khaki pants, repeatedly asks why he was being stopped and what law he was breaking.
