8. Republicans are wanting to do what repubs have wanted to do since The New Deal.

They've vowed since FDR's presidency to kill Social Security and return the country back to the plutocratic ownership-rule of the corporatists and the aristocracy. They believe that unless a person is from that group, they are not entitled to anything except wage slavery. And FWIW, they'd just as soon make any person who has to work for a paycheck a flat out slave period. They and their ilk are the ruling class and everyone else is a peasant.
