(2,252 posts)In this clip. He may be a little smug but that's okay as long as he keeps reminding us that Trump is a fascist, Hitler loving prick for life.

(2,992 posts)It was when he agreed with the police in Irving, Texas, who arrested a high-school student who brought a home-made digital clock to school and showed it off to his teachers. The student was Muslim, and the police decided it might be a bomb. Because the first thing a kid with a bomb does before blowing up his school is spend several class periods proudly showing it off to his teachers. Maher thought the police did the right thing by arresting the student before actually figuring out if what he had was, in fact, a bomb.
Maher is a bigot. I have no use for him.
After his second why liberals suck lecture, I walked away. Never have regretted it.

(8,445 posts)I haven't watched Bill Maher in a few years, and I can't say that I miss the show.
A better segment on van lifers might be to point out that it's not as fun and glamorous as some of the van lifers who produce content portray. I've watched a lot of van life videos, thinking at one time that I'd like to do it. The thing is, I can't think of another human that I would like to have join me. People don't realize that no matter how tricked out your van is, it's still a very small space. You have to be ready to experience everything that another person does in that tight space, and vice versa. Noises, smells, bad moods......there's no way to get away from that stuff.
Another point is that not all van lifers do it to produce content. Many, if not most, have different jobs that they're able to do on the road.
Bill Maher's arrogant attitude about things he knows nothing about got on my nerves a long time before I quit watching. I liked his guests, but I rarely liked him.

(1,000 posts)to backpack around Europe in between finishing prep school and heading off to college? Is that still a thing? Is that just when Mitt Romney was avoiding Vietnam? Am I aging myself? The same Bill who makes fun of people who have never been 50 miles from home in their life is worried about young people having a life before hitting the grindstone?
Full disclosure, I have enjoyed Bill for a long time, but this "cancel culture" BS is tedious, you of all people should recognize "consequence culture," Bill, since ragging on other peoples shortcomings is pretty much most of your schtick nowadays.
You really disappointed when you had Ben Shapiro and Malcolm Nance on discussing CRT. You asked Ben to define CRT, which he did, accurately, surprising I know, and then Malcolm was asked to define it, and he himself was surprised that he completyly agreed with Ben, up until Ben did what he always does, then he set about redefining CRT in terms his knuckledragging audience could understand, full on culture war boogie man, how it is being taught in grade school to make white kids feel bad (it isn't-back to it is a theory debated in law school). Something, something you Malcom, have merit, everyone benefits from meritocracy, it is equal. To a black man in the US there has always been meritocracy. Malcom mentioned his ancestor who ran away from slavery to fight in the Civil War......and both Bill and Ben are befuddled when Malcolm says the black experience in the US post Civil War was not one of equal meritocracy. Ben does not believe the controversy is being manufactured for the culture war. Why would Jim Crow even matter in a place where equal meritocracy exists? And Bill really, really wanted to see Malcolm's point, but he was at a loss.........and then when Malcom was frustrated by two white men with a bad case of obtuseness, Ben slides in "that's OK I sleep on a bed of money." Because as we all know, money is the metric of human worth. Character, meh. Good job Bill.
