Looks like they're going for his co-conspirators first. Watching that Committee today and interviews with Adam Schiff, they're deadly serious, and I don't think there's a time limit for attempting to overthrow the government.

As Katyal says, from the context of the judiciary, " ... that's because it's kind of a joke question in the first place, and shouldn't be asked and certainly not by a former president of the United States." But TFG takes advantage of his standing for his supposed political base, to demand concessions for their interests (really his own) over the rest of American voters he's threatening to nullify.
