The CDC estimates the Omicron variant accounts for 95 percent of U.S. test samples as we hit seven straight days of record-setting Covid case counts. It comes as the agency clarifies its isolation guidance. Meantime, the Biden administration announces it will double its order of Pfizer’s antiviral pill. Aired on 01/04/2022.

1. The CDC has changed it's estimates

"The CDC had previously reported that as of Dec. 18, 73% of new cases were linked to omicron. But on Tuesday, the agency revised those figures, slashing that estimate to 23% ."

And the Delta variant is what we are experiencing for the most part. Expect hospitalizations to increase along with deaths. The reason deaths have not been as bad is not due to the milder omicron virus but due to it being a lagging indicator and that our doctors have learned to treat Covid better.

This is just another wave of Delta thanks to Thanksgiving and Christmas gatherings, school openings, reduced lock downs, reduced mask wearing and increases in crazy anti-masker/anti-vaxxers.
