Two Truths and a Lie

A few years ago, linguist and cognitive scientist George Lakoff popularized the idea of a "truth sandwich"— a method for discussing lies, safely in context. But in the current political climate it often feels like lies and euphemisms are just too fast, leaving little time for facts and explanations to provide context or clarity. This week, Brooke sits down with Lakoff to discuss the truth sandwich in 2022, and whether or not it can still serve journalists and news consumers.

This is a segment from our January 21, 2022 program Political Fictions.
