These zealots are even coming up with their own deluded reasons to ban what used to be classics. Children should be encouraged to read and become aware of actual history and different points of view. I cringe to imagine the effects of this RW censorship on this generation of children.

And, in this digital age, it's impossible to prevent teens from accessing any of the books on the banned lists. They can be obtained as either a digital download, or a hard copy purchase from places like Amazon. They then get circulated among the student body outside the control of those who would ban them.

The real problem is that, if left unchecked, censorship becomes a control mechanism for many different aspects of life, not just books, as can be seen in the recent attempts to "white wash" the long history of racism in America.

As Aldous Huxley’s famous quote goes, “facts don’t cease to exist because they are ignored”.

to raise some money or find sponsors. So, banning books could be just like making sure every student that wanted would get a free copy.
