9. Individual Republicans will exploit this to raise money, like #FailedCoupGuy's knee jerk reaction.

It only took about an hour for #FailedCoupGuy to post a "Send Cash" response to the retirement news breaking.

They might not fight this one too hard. It doesn’t shift the balance. They still have a 6/3 court (in a country that is nowhere near that right-leaning) We’ll see… they probably will be obstructionist just for the hell of it… but feels like it might benefit them to take a pass on this. 🤷🏻?♀️

They'll probably make some noise and ask difficult-sounding questions at the confirmation hearings, but that's just to make sure that their base in November knows that they're fighting.

Republicans who get a chance to ask the nominee questions will use the opportunity to impune her reputation, insult her race, and continue the attack on decency and tradition. Count on it.

5. I don't think so on the part of Senate Dems. Who knows about republicans and won't matter.

The most frequently speculated judge was just confirmed about a year ago with 53 votes. The three republicans could make some noise about one year not being enough experience for the promotion, but I don't see either Manchin/Sinema changing their support.

But if it's someone else? Who knows?

I'm not expecting the people who get bent out of shape over how m&m candies are depicted to suddenly be acquiescent.

They'll squawk and flap their arms.
