(63,900 posts)I believe I was pregnant with my first child. I remember Jerry Ohrbach played El Guyo.

(63,900 posts)My admiration for that cast and those stories is very deep. When my son was in law school he and his classmates went to see Waterston in a play on Broadway and chatted with him backstage about the series.
Sadly, Ohrbach died a few years back.
Another favorite of mine occasionally on the show was Frank Converse. He and I were classmates at Carnegie Tech. I remember well how we were trained in drama school at the time. I was told very sternly that I still had a Texas accent and told me how I had to get rid of it. The Method was also strictly adhered to. We had to read "An Actor Prepares" by Stanislavski.

(769 posts)As the boy twice and as the mute once. And on the piano many times.
And hearing "Soon It's Gonna Rain" again brought back wonderful memories
Now realizing how appropriate to the times we live in.
Maybe someone should send tfg a copy. But he probably doesn't like music
except the Chinese gongs that are in his head.

(6,815 posts)A walk down memory lane, a road trip of reminiscence. We were all in high school plays, right?
Brigadoon, Carousel, Kismet!

(6,815 posts)Comedy was more my bailiwick. The timing came effortlessly to a class clown. Singing on stage? The idea terrifies me still.
In our choir, I was the tenor-blender, of note only when I was absent. My voice tended to refine the rough or callow edges of the others from the sound of the whole, a natural camouflage.

(769 posts)for many years. An American classic. So glad I had a chance to
participate in the productions that I did. Great post.

(23,968 posts)...a member of the base amateur theater group. I played the mute. It was perfect for me as my voice does not carry at all, so this non-speaking part was tailor-made for me.
I don't think I have heard this number since then - the late 1970s. I still have my copy of the program signed by all my fellow cast members.
