that made people compete for jobs with bad working conditions and often low pay.

Well, we're aging out, retiring, dying off. Younger workers don't have to put up with this shit because they know there are other jobs out there where the bosses aren't the same kind of bastards.

Corporations are going to have to hire more people instead of working a few of them into the ground and they're going to have to compete for those new hires. This threatened strike is just the first of many as workers re organize into unions and demand to be treated better than their parents and grandparents were.
