I have worked with a lot of people who have master degrees, they excelled in College but they never read anything, all they have read in their lives is college books to pass their classes. I don't have anything against college books, I too had to read those to pass my classes, but I do believe that you have to read newspapers, magazines, and of course books. Any one who has read "Animal Farm", "1984" by George Orwell would learn about the world more that any text book, they would also learn that the path republicans want to take this country are too similar to those in "1984" they would understand republicans want to take us on the wrong path. All of Kurt Vonnegut's books teach so much, my favourite being "Cat's Cradle" which to me is an essay on human stupidity.

Read biographies, they would leant that the last good republican president was Teddy Roosevelt, they would learn to recognize when a new president was on the path of repeating the wrong actions of previous bad presidents.

Anyway, its not enough to be academically educated, people have to learn to understand behaviour, communication as to what the people we intend to elect are actually saying, to understand their actions, and to understand history to make sure we know how to differentiate between those who have done good to the country and those whose actions bordered to treason, then people would understand that trump's actions went past the border of treason, but without any reference to history people will not understand.

To put more crudely...people who read learn to know when they are being bullshitted.
