Moscow court jails man over posts about military - DW News

A Moscow court has sentenced Dmitry Ivanov, a former mathematics student and creator of the Protest MGU telegram channel, to more than eight years in a penal colony.

Ivanov was tried under a section of law about "military fakes" for posts about Russian attacks on Ukrainian cities. He was prosecuted over 11 posts that dealt with, among other things, the events of March last year in Bucha, where Russian troops are alleged to have committed war crimes, and the shelling of Mariupol.

because they never knew the old, paranoid Soviet system of informants, secret police, and prison over nothing. In addition, they see the country they've always been told is the biggest and strongest in the world running into a brick wall in upstart Ukraine, meaning their wise leaders don't know what the hell they started or what the hell they're doing now. All those wise leaders can think or is restarting the Soviet system of total control. They might find that a lot harder with kids who have known freedom rather than an entire population who only knew slavery.
