1. They don't care about democracy or governing in one. They do what their owner donors instruct.
Republican debt ceiling conditions:
the bill passed by House Republicans would hold not just the U.S. economy, but the entire global economy hostage unless they can: - Cut 30,000,000 VA visits for veterans - Cut 22% of the VA budget - Eliminate funding for Housing Choice Vouchers for as many as 50,000 veterans - Kick 300,000 kids out of child care and Head Start - Evict 400,000 families from their homes - Kick 1,000,000 seniors off Meals on Wheels - Kick 1,000,000 mothers & children off the WIC nutritional assistance program - Eliminate Pell Grants for 80,000 students and reduce grant funding for millions of others - Close 125 air traffic control towers - Scale back rail safety inspections - Eliminate funding for 11,000+ FBI personnel, 2,000+ border patrol agents and hundreds of police - Send manufacturing jobs overseas - Roll back Biden's environmental protections - Deny 750,000 workers job training and employment services Rethugs are trying to hide these details and themselves at all costs. Lazy media profit from this drama. This need not be about "democrats conceding." At all. This stuff's going on behind closed doors and Minority Leader Hakeem Jeffries wants none of it, even if Biden tries to talk him into any of it. Repubs and their Koch billionaire owner/donors are the covid party -- they don't care how many Americans sicken and die over what their anti-democracy owners try to force this country to become. A plantation corporatocracy. Biden needs to listen to Senator Elizabeth Warren. |

2. I agree that Biden should not agree to any of that
Since he was elected, he's worked hard to make progress in cleaning up the mess that TFG left behind.

3. Those of us who agree get labeled as "progressive," when we're really just FDR Democrats.
Sure, Biden has indeed worked hard, and so will media and rethugs, to try to make 2024 a one-issue campaign. Again. First "old." Then "inflation." Now what. This?
This time, it only takes one decision their owners want them to jump on. I say hit them, their lingo, and their owners back hard. |

4. It would certainly help if TFG had already faced the consequences of his actions
I realize that the legal system takes time to get it right, but I agree that in the meantime the opposition continues to come up with any and every distraction they can think of.
