Thom Hartmann: Occupy G8/NATO Summit collides wAdbusters

Adbusters - the organization that put out the initial call for an occupation of Wall Street back in September of last year - now has its eyes set on Chicago. The G8 and NATO are scheduled to hold a summit in Chicago during the first week of May - and Adbusters is calling on 50,000 people from around the planet to set up tents and occupy the city in hopes of pulling off the “biggest multinational occupation of a summit meeting the world has ever seen.” The list of demands Adbusters is promoting include a Robin Hood Tax - essentially a tax on stock trades - a ban on high frequency ‘flash’ trading - a binding climate change accord - and a three strikes and you’re out law for corporate criminals. Adbusters is calling on demonstrators to “bring a tent.” Of course the Occupy Chicago movement has been thriving for months now - without Adbusters - and plans have already been made for similar demonstrations against the G8 and NATO. So to many - Adbusters call for action in Chicago - is ruffling some feathers of others within the Occupy Movement. Joining Thom Hartmann from New York for more on this story is J.A. 1. Ah, the old "setting up tents" call

Full well knowing that tents can't be set up in city parks for camping at ANY time, not just during these or other protests. Good way to try to provoke a stoked-up confrontation with police. (not).

Why not just call for 50,000 to come march or rally in protest? (need we ask.) While I fully support protests at these summits, this is not a tactic I approve of.

2. Forget about adbusters, fuck them

I fully support Progressive movements and want to move the country to the left, where it really already is. We don't need a magazine in fucking vancouver telling us what to do. We can think for ourselves! Occupy by protest, the old fashioned way. Let's study our history of protest, and do it right this time!
