Convince Congress to fork over their salaries for the next four years as a start to cut down on spending. You guys are not doing your jobs and the taxpayers shouldn't have to pay for work not done. The money can be used to pay down the deficit instead.

households in Washington, travel and other expenses they wouldn't have if they weren't serving in Congress and that the government doesn't provide. Most rich people are notoriously cheap and expect others to pick up the tab. Also, they wouldn't have their Cadillac grade health insurance and other perks either. I would cut off that insider trading and citizens united spigot too. Of course, I'm jesting. I'm saying if they want to cut spending, this is a good place to start because this has been one of the most useless things we taxpayers have had to pay for in recent years. The Pentagon would be my second choice.

It's because the media is owned by rich people who support other rich people who pay rich people to be in congress and do their bidding. The game is rigged in favor of the rich in both parties. The Dems just don't want to give all the money to the rich and the Repugs want to steal every bit of it for them and their rich cronies. The media can't let this get out, it's counter to their goals of stealing all the money for themselves and the rich and impoverishing the rest of the country.

14. Their entire myth is based on racism...
Mon Jan 7, 2013, 04:18 PM
Jan 2013

Republicans have been using the words "government spending" to dog whistle "welfare" for decades.

They go all through the South telling racist white people that MOST of their tax dollars are going to lazy black people. They invoke the image to some dirt poor white guy that the government is ripping them off and blacks have more than they do as a result of years of handouts that white people aren't eligible for. The image of a black guy kicking back in the "inner cities" smoking crack and watching cable TV is designed to fill Rednecks with anger and resentment considering they can't afford cable TV. After spreading this LIE Republicans then claim to be the heroes that will put a stop to this outrage and force those lazy blacks out of their comfortable welfare lifestyle and make them get a job so they will suffer just like the poor whites.

So, every time you hear Republicans talk about "Obama's spending" remember this is their game.

They are NOT talking about cutting the pay for park rangers at Yosemite or the guys who monitor earthquakes at the USGS.

I honestly never saw much racial components in the GOP's "Obama's out of control spending" myth. Of course I knew it was a lie, but I basically gave them the benefit of the doubt and looked at it like elected Republicans were just mostly con-artists and didn't care so much about the racial stuff.

...he will rail about "out of control spending" and claim to be "looking out for taxpayers".

That's CLASSIC code throughout the South.

I'm telling you, there are racists that really believe MOST of their taxes are supporting black people.

Then you have the decades of Limbaugh telling these people "It's not how much you make, it's how much you keep" as if their job as a dishwasher at Denny's would make them a millionaire if it weren't for the "gubmunt stealing".

They even tell these people that taxes ARE a form of slavery.

What the HELL is with these people that they ASSUME there are those who rule and those who are ruled and they live in abject TERROR that they will become slaves? Yo get the idea they wake up in a cold sweat in the middle of the night after having a nightmare that they were forced to bow before a black man.

We are in a discussion about spending and cuts and I defended the President based on this chart... They started to beat me up by saying that we all would agree that 2009 was an historic year because of the Great Recession and the government intervention by both President Bush and President Obama but Obama is now using 2009 spending levels as a baseline and he still increases spending by 1.4 percent over that baseline as if we were having the Great Recession every year since he has been President....

What is a good comeback for this rationale?
