Chris Hedges: This Is What a Patriot Looks Like

Published on Jan 25, 2013

Pulitzer Prize-winning reporter Chris Hedges speaks at the Mid-South Peace and Justice Center banquet Jan. 19, 2013. Hedges and others have sued President Obama and the Department of Defense to squash the National Defense Authorization Act, which permits the government to pick up anybody they wish at any time and hold him however long they want---without charging the alleged offender with a crime and without notifying family members of his or her whereabouts. A federal court agreed and ruled the law unconstitutional; however, Pentagon lawyers immediately made an "emergency" plea to the appellate court, which stayed the law and set a hearing date for Feb. 6. Speaking to the MSPJC in Memphis, Hedges retraced the history of the corporate takeover of democracy and the U.S. government, and he said the only remedy is massive civil disobedience. Hedges' latest book is Days of Destruction; Days of Revolt.--Video by Citizens Media Resource

"our" president feels and all of "our leaders and arbiters of justice" feel when they know that what Chris says is true and they are the perpetrators of this killing field we call earth, especially America? They have the obligation to not only NOT allow this status quo but to fight very hard against it.
It will undoubtedly take "massive acts of civil disobedience" to stop this genocide and I still hope that we can accomplish this through Occupy or some immediate grassroots action, it must be done very soon.
I just wonder how these "privileged few" can participate and actually guide this war on humanity. They must be sociopaths (void of any conscience) in order to put their profit before the life of even one person.
So, IF we do have "mass civil disobedience" and stop the genocide, sociopaths will only feel sorry for themselves, not the millions who have suffered and died because of them. There would be no reason to allow them to exist in the general population of our world because they would just find another way to profit from the suffering of others.
Only if we unite and never give-up can we change this obscenity. We will have to remain vigilant to make sure it can never happen again. It must be done or we all perish.
