Giant inflatable Snoopies and Micky Mice kill my Christmas spirit

And they're going up all over the neighbourhood today. Bah, I hate that commercial kitsch. I suppose that makes me a curmudgeon.

1. The true war on Christmas: over-commercialization. But...

... you're not a curmudgeon til you tell them to get off your lawn.

4. A house we drive by used to have a set of home made Charlie Brown Christmas figures

Sometime around 1980 when the family first moved in, they began making figures, adding to them every year. They started with Charlie Brown, Snoopy, and a Christmas tree and added one or two a year for a couple of decades. I'm not sure what happened - if the family moved on, or as I heard rumored that the figures were stolen one year - but the house no longer has them out and hasn't for a long time.

I hate those inflatable things - they are ugly and noisy. If I lived in a neighborhood where people put those things up, I'd be tempted to take up archery or lawn darts. That is why I do NOT live in a neighborhood!

7. I don't like them either, I thought I was the only one.

They seem obnoxious. One house near me has about ten of the things in their yard. A tree, angels, santa, reindeer, snow globe, snow man, presents, etc etc. And then a nativity scene too.

8. As an atheist, I really don't even mind the nativity scenes

I don't think it has much to do with Christmas, but I really can't say I mind them.

10. I like the nativity scenes, it is just all of it jammed together.

A string of reindeer, Santa, elves, trees, presents, baby Jesus, angels.
I keep waiting for them to throw in a menorah.

11. Wow

people getting so blown up over blow ups. Now this is what I call a Christmas display, although I miss Liberace and his chorus line.
