These are my farm cats, not stray in any way. They live a happy life outside keeping mice out of my house and barns.
Yes, they were fed more than that, I just didn't see any reason to tape their entire meal.
I am not complaining about feeding them, I just recorded this because I thought this little ritual was funny and might bring a smile to a few people.
They certainly seem healthy (I hope)

(21,646 posts)and stray cats were like sacred cows. I was walking in an area at dusk and I guess they recognized a guy that came to feed them that was coming from another direction and out of every little hiding space they popped out and started meowing like that . I love cats but it was meowing from every direction

I just looked seems it's still like that there ...
"h a free cat might sound like ones up for adoption at zero cost, in Italy were talking about freely living outdoor cats. And get this, they are protected by the Italian law enforced by a well insinuated cat culture. Sure like everywhere else in the world, anti-cat people might do mean things to a gatto libero or incessantly bother the nearest feline colony. But these are protected and the cat guardians and the feline colonies theyre responsible for have every right to stay and be where the cats have claimed territory. "

(5,810 posts)We went to Cinqua Terra and enjoyed the tiny towns there. In one place (I forget exactly which one) we had lunch. The cafe where we ate was outdoors and faced an open public space that had benches. Every bench had cats lounging around sleeping, draped over the arms and sitting in the shade under the benches. It was clear that this was THEIR space and no one dared suggest that they scoot! 😂😂😂😂 One of the more bedraggled puss cats was asleep atop a metal garbage can. Obviously the King of that domain. 😺

(7,808 posts)And you are mommie.
Every cat I've ever had has meowed as I got food out for him. It's funny to hear a whole group of them doing it.

(22,011 posts)I have about 20 "barn" cats. Most of them hang out on my front porch though. Haven't had any new ones show up the past few years, thank goodness. They're all spayed/neutered, FAT, and civilized--they eat out of bowls. They all have names, and love their peoples.
My two indoor cats were quite interested in that video!

(25,816 posts)In the past I have had some in my life. Not right now, because at present it would be irresponsible for me to have a cat or three, because I'm in a place in my life where I'm doing a lot of travelling. I do have friends who could help out, but for now I'll remain cat free. Someday, oh someday when I can no longer travel, I will revert to being a crazy cat lady.

(4,492 posts)I travel a lot for work (months at a time) and it is just not fair to kitties.
However, when I retire from political staffing, I'm going to be a crazy cat lady. My future kitties will be named after some of the cities I've worked in (Lexington, Raleigh, Portland, Vancouver, etc)

(4,492 posts)He was a loudmouth to start out with. When he was in the dreaded carrier going to the V-word, that sound was turned up to max volume.
I would give anything to hear that loud meow just one more time. I should have recorded it and made it my ringtone.

(23,296 posts)That's crazy!!! Never seen anything like that.
I have a 15 year old kitty named Louis, who pulls this same act every single morning to get his dental treat and again when I get home from work and anytime in between if he thinks I'll fall for it. He drives me insane with the crying until he gets the darned treat. How much food do you go through a month? Just curious!?
