Somebody call out my name (John)
As it started to rain
Two spirits dancing so strange
Ah! Bowakawa, pousse pousse
Ah! Bowakawa, pousse pousse
Ah! Bowakawa, pousse pousse

(When asked what the latter meant, Lennon said it meant nothing but that it came to him in a dream).

I read that when recording this song, the lyric sheet blew away and Louis had to improvise vocals to the rest of the song. Not sure if true but he does turn to gibberish at the end.

Wed Jan 24, 2018, 01:01 PM
Jan 2018

There was this period in Italian culture when they would go nuts over any kind of American music, despite the fact that much of the country wasn’t proficient in English.

So one artist got the idea to make a song that sounded as if it was in English to untrained Italian ears, but instead was completely gibberish.

He did this to prove a point, of course, which he did. The song shot up the Italian pop charts like a rocket.

What did you expect?

No time, no time for you
I got no time, baby
Got lots of better things to do

Runnin' from the risin' heat
To find a place to hide
The grass is always greener
Growin' on the other side

No time, no time for you
I got no time, baby
Got lots of better things to do

No time, no time for you

More vocals by Yamantake Eye. If you don't have the patience to sit through 8 minutes that start slow, at least pick up at about 4:15 for an epic groove.

As I understand the story, he had the melody but hadn't made up lyrics yet. He just started singing nonsense to the instrumental track of the tune to see how it sounded with a vocal. It sounded so good, they just went with the lines he made up.

Pretty creative nonsense!

I got two strong arms
Blessings of Babylon
Time to carry on and try
For sins and false alarms
So to America the brave
Wise men save

Near a tree by a river
There's a hole in the ground
Where an old man of iron
Goes around and around
And his mind is a beacon
In the veil of the night
For a strange kind of fashion
There's a wrong and a right
But he'll never, never fight over you
