Cat Figures Out Owner Does Not Enjoy Her Live Gifts, Starts Bringing Giant Leaves Every Morning

https://www.boredpanda.com/cat-baloo-every-morning-leaf-gift/

It’s very common for cats to show their appreciation and affection by bringing gifts for their owners. These gifts are, more often than not, the results of a hunting session and involve rodents, birds and other small creatures in a state of extreme distress.

Needless to say, these gifts are rarely welcomed by their ungrateful humans. This most likely causes confusion and hurt to our poor feline friends who cannot understand why such treasured gifts are being constantly rejected!

snip

Baloo is not just any old cat however. She quickly figured out that Ben has other tastes in gifts, and went out to hunt for something nicer, something less…alive. “It took a couple of months of me rejecting her gifts for her to start bringing me leaves. They were always big, nice looking leaves,” Ben said. “It was such a relief from the live mice every morning that I would show my gratitude by taking the leaf and playing with it while she sat on my chest.”

“She knew she was doing something right now.”

Proving herself to be an unusually intelligent and empathetic cat, Baloo carefully selected only the best leaves for her lucky owner, much to the relief of the local wildlife. These days however, she has found lazier ways to show love for Ben. She will comfort me when I’m feeling down,” Ben told the Dodo. “She’s not a lap cat by any means, but when I’m upset or nervous she will hop up onto me, push me back so I lay down and then she’ll just sit on my chest purring like mad and nuzzling my face with her nose. She’s a very loving cat.”

dining room. She must have realized that the first place I head in the morning is to the kitchen and the coffee pot and wanted to make sure that I didn't miss them. She was a very good mouser, but she never ate them. I guess she thought that since I couldnt catch them myself, she would let me enjoy the fruits of her hunts.

Cats are logical and pragmatic. They are also even more loyal and loving to people who treat them well than are dogs.

Dogs are loyal and loving even to people who are indifferent to them. Not cats.

Smart kitty.

A long ago cat of ours once brought a live, and uninjured baby owl into our house. I had a hell of a time catching it.

These days, our cats are indoor cats. 2 od them love to play fetch.

That kitteh is showing lots of love, selecting the choicest gifts for her human and presenting it as a sign of her esteem.

My indoor cat, Jack, can't fetch me live presents (thanks, but no thanks, sweetie) but in the morning he wakes me up by dragging his slobbery wet, mauled 'cat snake', one of those teasers with a long strip of faux fur attached to a wand, up on the bed and dropping the cold, sloppy thing on my face. Hello!

our daughter wanted a cat, and her twin brother wanted a dog. As I am on oxygen I sleep in our living room where my concentrator is. They are both in college now but she lives on campus, while he attends here in town and lives at home. The maintenance of the cat food bowl has been assigned to me (by the cat, of course). One morning while she was home on break, I awoke to the sound of the cat meowing her head off... outside my daughter's bedroom door! She had to get up and come out to feed the cat because, apparently, when she is home it's her job lol.

Straws. Our fella likes to deliver straws.

He's strictly an indoor cat (a gorgeous 'big-boned' tabby). A few years ago we put together some straws that we got with our smoothies (clean of course). He would bat the straws around for a while and then saunter away. Soon after that he started making his straw deliveries, sometimes in the middle of the night to the foot of the bed, always with a nice announcement (or rather a very particular yowl). The best is when we're watching a movie, he'll come down the stairs with his straw delivery, make an announcement and immediately go to sleep.

I love the creativity of our furry friends to amuse themselves (and us)

When we got up in the morning, our bed was circled with socks!
He had been running in and out of the laundry room plucking socks from the hamper for us!

Way better than the half a squirrel we found on the porch one morning. We thought it was a cat toy until we saw the blood.

She wants to share her love of nature with you. My cat brought in a live chipmunk one day. I screamed, she dropped it and it ran through the kitchen, through the dining room and disappeared. I opened windows to let it escape, which it must have done since I never saw it again. Spent a couple of sleepless nights, though. I love cats and dogs and have had both at various times. They are all loveable, with their own personalities.

of all colors and descriptions, I have my first tortoiseshell living with me and her birth brother. Where her brother is a sweet, loveable cat, she is unlike any other cat I have ever had. She has some unique traits. She tends to be strong-willed and quite possessive of me, and things always have to be on her terms. She is fiercely independent, feisty and unpredictable. She is very talkative and makes sure we have a "conversation" every morning when I wake up. Her gift to me is a massage whenever we lie down for a nap or go to bed. (I have fibromyalgia and severe arthritis)

I got her and her brother when they were about a week old, so I am truly their Mom. I wasn't planning to add to my cat family when I got them but by the time I had invested almost 3 months in them while waiting for the Humane Society volunteer who cared for orphaned kittens to get back from her vacation, I decided to keep them. So glad I did.

through my parents' back yard some years ago. They lived in a wooded area and there were a lot of deer, which got into gardens and were sort of a nuisance. Anyhow, one day we were sitting on the back porch just looking at nature and whatever, and all of a sudden a deer blasted out of the woods, white tail up, with a couple of the neighbors' cats hot on its heels. The cats broke off the chase when the deer darted back into the woods. I can't imagine what they were thinking; maybe they were chasing the deer just for fun, but if they had brought it down they could have eaten like kings for quite awhile.

proceed to jump around all over me and the bed trying to catch it. Previous cat used to just bring them in the house and let them go, thankfully not in the middle of the night, but still..... with both of these cats Ive ended up with a large mouse population in the house when previously there was none! Like they think their job is to stock the house with mice, not rid it of them!

My other current cat however .... he quickly learned I wasnt interested in partaking of the bounty. He loves fresh mousie so he just chows down immediately and I rarely see any body parts at all.
