What's with the tiny remote cars?

I'm trying not to be judgmental, but across the street, grown men (I repeat grown men) are playing with these tiny cars, using remote control devices. Every Sunday, the crowd gets bigger and bigger. Is there anything more to it than just watching their little cars ride around? I'm at a loss. Someone, please explain the allure.
