I miss having cats

Don't get me wrong, I love the 4 dogs we have, but...

they only love us. They do not get along w/ other people or other dogs. They are such a "pack." Inviting people over is nearly impossible... and adding a cat? Forget it!

they are not house-trained. The two oldest ones (momma and poppa) are kind of okay, but the other two (son and daughter)... well, if you put them outside they hold it until they come in. My guy was going through multiple surgeries when they were young and he didn't have it in him to train them.

I miss the days of having a cat or two going in the litterbox and just having to clean that up every day or two. A special little kitty that sits on your lap and gives you their belly for a rub. Cats don't jump all over you when you come into the house after going to the store, or to work, or outside to shovel.....

I moved into a home where the dogs are not trained. Now I'm missing my cats.

it really leaves a huge void in life. Hope you have an opportunity to get one or more cats; cat herds are the greatest!

I lost two w/i 11 days of each other. One was a surprise, the other one got very sick and no matter how much energy or money we had (and trust me, we spent both) we couldn't save her.

I don't want to say that I don't like dogs. I'm just saying these particular dogs are hard to live with.

My man is retired (because of his back injury) and he is not on any kind of a schedule. That means the dogs are on no kind of schedule. I'd put them on a schedule, but I tip-toe around my sleeping man.

Schedule: dogs wake up and eat. They get all the food and water they can take in. 30-40 minutes later they go outside. Then they are done until later in the day, then it's the same routine. They go outside at least 4 times per day.

My guy thinks these dogs are too dainty to go out when it's too hot or too cold, but our neighbor has two that came from his litter, and they go outside to pee and poo all the time.

I guess maybe I'm not so upset about the dogs, but upset about how I'm the new-comer in the house, and I know what needs to be done, and I know (or at least think) that my guy won't do it... or let me do it.

I think with time the dogs may adapt to your schedule and routine. If things calm down, there may be an opportunity to add a cat(s). Best of luck with your new situation!

right up there with squirrels. I don't miss the indoor surprises my cats left... I haven't had a cat in almost 10 years and I still get a whiff of them once in awhile...
