I loved this show when I was a kid. The Robot was my favorite character. Dick Tufeld (who voiced him) was one of the greatest voice artists who ever lived. Sadly, Mr. Tufeld passed away a few years ago, but they brought him back to do the Robot in the 1998 movie, and I couldn't have been more pleased.
I think this looks great. I welcome any comments from anyone else who remembers Lost in Space.

(3,427 posts)I looked it up, and Bob May was the man inside the Robot, but Dick Tufeld was the voice. Never knew they were two different people!
I too was a huge LiS fan when I was a kid (and not just because of Angela Cartwright!). Pretty cool that they're bringing it back. I wonder if any of the original cast members will make cameo appearances. Several of them are still alive.

Still a very attractive woman to this day, BTW...

Too cool!

I took a fish head out to see a movie,
Didn't have to pay to get it in...

(5,914 posts)I always appreciate the chance to see or hear him interviewed. Like Mark Hamill, he's an unapologetic genre fan with lots of interesting stories from his experiences, and he always comes off as a super nice guy.

Dave Starsky
(5,914 posts)He avoided the "child star curse" that happened to so many others from that era. Sounds that, like Howard, he had decent parents who cared about his welfare and didn't see him as a cash cow.
TuxedoKat
(3,818 posts)Wasn't aware of this work of his though!!! Interesting!!!

(12,132 posts)before I ever knew it was him. When I was in high school they played it on Dr Demento all the time.

(3,818 posts)Good thing I didn't see that Twilight Zone episode until many years later!!! I would have been freaked out over that Jack-in-the Box!!!
Dr. Strange
(25,919 posts)But Mumy's Twilight Zone performance still stands out for me.
On a side note, here's Mumy reprising his role:
TuxedoKat
(3,818 posts)I just watched a few minutes of it. Will watch the rest after work later. I thought it was going to be a spoof on the earlier episode, but it looks pretty serious!!! Thanks for sharing that!!!

I'm sure she's perfectly nice, IRL. But my heart belonged then only to Angela.

(14,565 posts)It was never going to match the series I loved in early elementary school in the mid '60s.
I used to draw daily pictures of the Jupiter 2 shooting at things, while the girl seated next to me laughed and the teacher scolded both of us to pay attention to her lessons.
Dave Starsky
(5,914 posts)And, again, I am a lifelong fan of the show.
It gets a lot of crap for its awful CGI and somewhat meandering plot. But it does enough things right and is respectful enough of the original series, that I still found it very enjoyable.
OriginalGeek
(12,132 posts)but I am already in love with the idea.
there was a time when I liked LiS more than Star Trek. I had to get a little older to appreciate ST:TOS but I love them both to this day.

(5,914 posts)Because every kid pretty much lived vicariously through Will and/or his sister Penny.
It looks like they're still keeping Will Robinson as a focal point of the show, along with his relationships with the mysterious Robot and the sinister Dr. Smith. That, coupled with the fact that there are some good, established actors and what looks like undeniably great effects involved, gives me the highest hopes for this.
