At the beginning of my career, I was told to call a retired lawyer for an explanation of a deal he had structured 35 years earlier. He was very gentlemanly and courteous but when I asked my questions, his response was, "Kid, at my age, I can barely remember to zip up my fly after going to the bathroom."

I replied, "Respectfully, sir, at least you remember to unzip beforehand."

We remained friendly till he passed away ten years later.
