If it's not one thing ...

... it's two or three ... or twelve

I haven't posted much lately because things have been kind of crazy in the reality which I currently inhabit ...and I really don't like to come across like I am a "gloomy Gus"so to speak ... so many people are so much worse off than me ... soooo if that is a 'trigger' for your own depression or other condition, please be advised that this may go there at some point but I don't fit into one of the support groups currently listed under that topic.

Some of you know some of my story, but for background ....

Ms. ashling and I both went back to grad. school together and got our masters in poli. sci. to be able to teach at the community college level. Then we found out how screwed up things are for adjuncts in academics today. I taught online and a few face to face classes in some community colleges in the area. However, my health has been on the downhill for a while. Ms. A had a full time job w/one of those and then got a full time position w/ a four year university.

Health insurance was pretty good, and she opted to pay into long term disability ... which she did for about 5 years. Did I mention that her health has been deteriorating as well? Well it has. A couple of years ago things got so bad w/ her fibromyalgia and chronic fatigue - which, added to the fact that she only has 1/2 of the thyroid left -made her life pretty miserable.

She finally had to take Family Medical Leave for a semester. When that ran out I was in the hospital w/ complications from having had back surgery and her medical condition had worsened as well. She took advantage of the Disability Insurance when the university graciously gave her the option of coming back to teaching 400 or so students full time or leaving her job.

It was clear that we 1) needed to downsize to cut expenses fast and 2) needed to get closer to family due to our health. However, we would have to find a bunch of new docs for my back, my wife's fibro, hashimotos, sot knees (she was having fluid aspirated from one pretty regularly ... 70cc one time)and other conditions, as well as pain management.

We visited our youngest daughter for X-mass and were able to find a nice little house for about half of what we were paying in rent. W/ help from family we were able to get most everything moved. Fortunately we were able to hire college students for most of the heavy stuff. We had to go back, however to get a last load or two ourselvesabout 7or8 hours each way.

We planned to rent a trailer and put a bunch of stuff in storeage and come back this summer. The landlord was (reluctantly) giving us some more time. As soon as my SS money came in we took our small pickup and headed out. Money was tight, but we figured we could make it work.

I had a case of bronchitis recently, so when I started coughing on the way we thought it was that. After we put this all in motion, another (very loud) hiccough: my wife found out that the insurance company had canceled her disability.

Hiccough - my b ronchitis turned out to be the flu for which I was in the ER after we got to our former house.

Hiccough - after that, it turns out the trailer was no longer available.

To make a very much longer story long, we finally got a lot of stuff in storeage and we got what we could get onto the truck and got the hell out with as muuch of our sanity left as possible.

BTW, we were looking for a psych. up here before the ordeal.

Due to the above, my wife got her Cobra payment made on the last day of the month. We got a confirmation number from the Cobra administrator. Last week we got a letter saying that the payment had not gone through, and that her COBRA was gone and could not be reinstated. We argued that they didn't tell us that the payment did not go through. Still, the woman said"nothing we can do" We assked (sorry, keybord sticks) to speak to her ssupervisor .... who was unavilable and was supposed to call us back in the morning. We got her call at 6:58 PM the next day.
still, "nothing we can do.

Sorry to put youall through my rant, but I couldn't hold it in any longer.
We would appreciate all of the thoughts, prayers, vibes,or whatnot.

Thanks. for a friendly ear .
