(3,276 posts)it was Bobbie Brooks. (Looking at internet sites for the lyrics, they seem uniformly to spell it "Bobby," though.)
I lived in Cleveland until about 15 years ago, and they were a Cleveland company. Very popular when I was in high school. Back in the 70s we used to look forward to their annual warehouse sales. Clothing so well made that you got sick of them before they wore out.

(28,729 posts)We used to take the train (imagine parents letting cute little teenage girls ride the train !!) to the next city just to shop there. I was a very fortunate girl with a very generous father (RIP Lou) who made many a trip there once I could drive until it closed.
Loved it.

Only question I have is: how do you "dribble those Bobby Brooks pants off"? 👖. 🤔

(2,593 posts)Very classic, not trendy. I wish for such a thing now. It's hard to find appropriate women's clothing these days. The styles are not my taste and the quality says, "through me away after one season, something else will be trending".

(426 posts)...I used to see it all the time in Seventeen Magazine, back in the 1960's. Usually worn by some popular model, like the iconic Colleen Corby. One or two pieces I might like, at the time, but the style just wasn't my thing. It all struck me as being too bourgeois....carefully matched and as inoffensive as possible. Too "nice", and conservative.
