(4,138 posts)His western swing guitar goes really well win Dom's Dixieland banjo, and the two of them both have an encyclopedic knowledge of pre-WWII American music.
I've been digging your threads. It's nice to get some music threads going here other than the usual 60s-70s rock once in awhile.

Seems that the Carolina Chocolate drops got some shine here in ST Louis, on 88.1 KDHX, member funded radio - please contribute - A few years ago and then sort of faded from view...
So many good artists that even someone accused of being obsessive about music (as my wife accuses me) just can't keep up.
But these threads help.
I posted the unappreciated guitar player thread over in M.A. as a cheap trick to get tips on new music, and I don't care who knows it

(4,138 posts)Dom left a couple of years ago, and the rest of the band has basically turned into Rhiannon Giddens' backing band. Not necessarily a bad thing, especially since both her albums are really fucking good, but it's certainly a different focus than their old black folklore preservation mission.
And yeah, if you search the tubes, there's a bunch of Pokey and Dom playing together. I think they shared a tour a couple years ago.
Here they are with a massive band leading a really fun singalong to Ray Charles' "Let's Go Get Stoned."
