For some reason I thought of Charles Aznavour (sometimes dubbed the French Sinatra) today. I was pleased to learn that he was still alive and about to turn 94 in a month.
A wonderful voice that took me right back to my childhood. Listening to him now makes me a little melancholy:

(3,818 posts)The first time was when I was 15. My mom has always been a HUGE fan as am I now. I didn't appreciate him as much when I was 10-11 and my mom was blasting his music throughout our house. But, it sure helped my French studies in a few years later in middle and high school! All those hours of enforced listening, one day something just clicked in my brain comprehension wise. Four years ago we took her to see him in NYC, then two years ago again in Boston. Great shows all three times. Here are some of my favorites below. The first time I heard the first one, Comme Ils Disent, the lyrics just blew me away as a young teenager.
Edited to add:
Just looked at his concert dates for 2018, all in Europe so far but he has a gap from early August to November so he may add some US tour dates then in the fall for September and October, which is what happened the last two times he came to the US, they added some US and Canadian tour dates.
