I can't even begin to explain how much i loved this band, back back back in the day, it seemed like my years were counted by when Rank and File came to town, saw them many times, still some of the best shows I've seen.

"Tony Kinman, a day-oner in Californias punk scene who later pioneered alt.country and cowpunk as the bassist and vocalist in the Austin-based band Rank & File, passed away this morning in his California home at age 63, his brother and bandmate Chip Kinman confirmed. He had been battling cancer."
And then - people sometimes ask why I used Amanda Ruth as an internet handle.... well
Rest easy Tony and thank you thank you thank you.....

(3,105 posts)the first album would definitely be in my top ten influences, if i was playing that facebook game. They also gave me my love of gentlemen wearing bolo ties (I was young and impressionable, lol). Those years, it was all Rank and File, The Blasters and X.
