150 square yards of sod just delivered.

I'll start laying sod at sunrise trying to beat the predicted heat as best I can. If I'm off the net for a couple of days, that means I'm down with my back.

If I'm laying sod on a Saturday, how early can I start drinking beer?

If you'll drink beer riding in the back of a pickup, on the way to work, in the rain - start now!

If not, then your 1st beer needs to be about 3 hours from when you shudder to a halt.

I don't like it but you're right. I've had bad experiences in the past working in the heat drinking beer.

You can die of dehydration from drinking beer! Not to say you should'nt enjoy some suds, but go to the ice water early and things will go better. Ask any bartender!
