Overheard in the grocery store today....

I was in the canned food aisle. An older couple shopping nearby. The woman says "Maybe we should by a couple of canned things for the food drive." The man replies, "I already feed the poor. It's called paying taxes."

History: Our Mail Carriers do a food drive a couple times a year. They have printed paper bags that are put in the Mail Boxes on a Monday with the coming Saturday as donation Pickup day. Our Mail Carrier is a hardcore Dem and last Saturday I met him at our Mail box. Bob has been on this Mail Route for six years and his comment was,you sure can tell were the Trump Voters live, zero donations, couple had put smart ass comments on the Paper Bag and put it back in the Mailbox. In our circle, only the new moveriners from Cali and Us were the only Contributors.

Bob has over two hundred mail stops in our part of the Community, looked like he had maybe a dozen donated bags.

Should not be surprised, our Community was the one that elected Michele Fiore to the Vegas City Council by 800 votes.

I always make sure to put some food in the bags the mail carriers bring us for their food drives. You can buy some nutritious things (canned pork and beans, veggies, spaghetti sauce) without spending a lot. I can't believe anyone would write a smartass comment on the bag and put it back in. Really disgusting. Our generous right wing "friends" ..........

When I went out to set the bag out, I thought about putting in my mailbox and putting the flag up. I have a huge mailbox but the top is rounded so I couldn’t put the bag up there. I looked up the street at my neighbors box and she put hers on the ground in front of the post for the box. Since I’m downhill from her, I decided to do the same thinking that it would be good to be consistent.

They didn’t pick it up. Next year I’ll put it in the box.

I did the same as you, set the bag on the ground because the jars of spaghetti sauce in my bag wouldn't fit in my mailbox, and my mail carrier did pick it up, I saw him do it. Did your mail carrier pick up your neighbor's bag?

Hers was gone. I was Home working in the yard all day but I didn’t go down to the mailbox for a bit when I heard him drop off the mail. The box is out of sight of my yard so I couldn’t see that the bag was still there until I walked over to it.

Our bags are plastic and a nice yellow color so they are pretty visible.

I don't know why, since they left a bag for me, but on the day of the food drive they delivered my mail but didn't take the food I'd left, which was on my porch right underneath the mailbox. So I took it out to the Second Harvest facility and explained what happened - they were happy with my donation and said to ask about it at my local post office.

I brought the card with me to the store and got cereal, canned fruit and vegetables and tuna - and I added several cans of soup that I already had at home. The mail comes fairly early here and I stay up so late that I put it out by the mailbox just before I went to bed. Maybe I was just too early, but I looked up and down the street and didn't see any other bags. It was the same last year, too.

The guy is mocking not if but WHEN their health insurance premiums, gasoline for their car, Food prices et all goes up unless they're part of that 1% who all of those tRumputin/GOP tax cuts for the rich is FOR. As of this week, everyone I know will be experiencing increases in our health insurance premiums. Some as early as June 2018, some of us in July 2018.
