1. Are you not allowed to have shellfish but want to anyway?

i used to have all kinds of questions like that when I was on weight watchers many years ago.

There's a fine line between fishing and just standing on the shore like an idiot.

6. There may be a joke here I am missing, however,

Despite the name, shellfish are not a kind of fish, but are simply water-dwelling animals.

13. Groan worth......

What did the fish say when he posted bail? "I'm off the hook!"

Why don't fish like basketball? Cause they're afraid of the net

Which fish can perform operations? A Sturgeon!

What do you call a fish with a tie? soFISHticated

What do you get when you cross a banker with a fish? A Loan shark!

How do you make an Octupus laugh? With ten-tickles

Why did the vegan go deep-sea fishing? Just for the halibut!

What do sea monsters eat? Fish and ships.

What do you call a fish that needs help with his or her vocals? Autotuna

Who do fish always know how much they weigh? Because they have their own scales.

What is the difference between a piano and a fish? You can tune a piano but you cannot tuna fish.

16. Shellfish are not fish

Shellfish are either mollusks (e.g. clams, oysters) or crustaceans (e.g. crabs, shrimp). Fish have vertebrae, an internal skeleton with a backbone. Shellfish do not. Shellfish are exoskeleton-bearing aquatic invertebrates.

28. Crustaceans are arthropods like insects and spiders.

In other words, crabs, lobsters and shrimp are just big aquatic bugs.

34. Yep. I can never eat lobster because I have a friend who said lobsters are just giant roaches

which they are technically (as you note they are classified as aquatic bugs). So yeah no more lobster for me. I will never get that image out of my head. Blech.

38. Actually they are more like spiders.

They have 8 legs, 10 if you include the claws. That probably doesn't make them seem any more appetizing, though.

at least crabcakes are OK! They don't eat meat, only fish, I asked if crabcakes would be OK (having a party next weekend) and she said YES YES YES!

GOOD, as we're in Maryland near rivers, Bay and ocean!

They are in the same phylum as land-dwelling big species.

46. Is a mullet a fish or a bird?

Mullets jump out of the water like they are flying. And they have gizzards.

And if you fry 'em they taste like chicken

Mullets are birds with fins and scales if you ask me
