He had been sick as a dog for two days, throwing up and belly issues. EKG showed heart attack. He was flown to a regional heart hospital and rushed to a cath lab. Only one blockage, only 60 percent. They did no stents or angioplasty. Talking about blood thinners, but admitted him due to the sickness. They called a gastroenterologist. I have been up all day, and suspect the same today. Wish me luck. I'm wondering if he has appendicitis, too.😳

(16,377 posts)At least your father is in the right place now and being cared for. In the meantime, it won't do him any good for you to become exhausted, so try to get some sleep. Positive thoughts your way.

(20,868 posts)My Dad had a heart attack as well.
He is gone now (22 years it has been) but I still miss him a lot. He had heart troubles as well (triple bypass/valve replacement).
Take care of yourself!

(205,195 posts)I've been through scares with both of my parents and I know how stressful that can be. But it does sound like he's getting the best of care and that they're finding out what's going on in good time. He has you for support, but don't forget to take care of yourself, too. Your Dad is in good hands so you need to get some rest - and don't forget to eat! And if you're worried about something, don't hesitate to speak up, the more information they have, the better.

(14,490 posts)don't settle for a half-assed diagnosis. I've known of people having such things as gall bladder episodes, severe acid reflux and other things that were misdiagnosed as heart attacks.
I had partial blockages that didn't require stints as well, and he's lucky. I hope he receives good therapy or at least thorough exercise and dietary consultation for his heart.
Please send along a huge DU thumbs-up from us to him (and you)!

(19,805 posts)My dad lived almost 20 years after a heart attack and a 5 way bypass.
They will fix him up.
If he smokes, beat his ass when he feels better.
No smoking and NO MORE RED MEAT!!

(7,754 posts)good cheer. It's really good news that it wasn't full blockage and with the right diet and blood thinners he could be set for another long, long time. I think they will figure it out. Maybe he was so unlucky as to have gotten a nasty case of flu at the same time. Just keep him there until they know for sure. Get some REST.
