Golden retriever puppy saves owner from rattlesnake bite

What a good fella!!!

ANTHEM, Ariz. - While on a morning hike with his owner Paula Godwin, Todd the golden retriever puppy became a hero.

According to a Facebook post from Godwin, "It was a beautiful morning, but as we were walking down the hill I almost stepped on a rattlesnake."

Todd, however, literally jumped into action and got in between Godwin and the snake, saving her from a bite to the leg.

Unfortunately, Todd suffered a bite to the face for his good deed.

..Red Rock rattlesnake immunization. Hubby is a Pharmacist at the hospital and the vets call them up to get antivenin... at one time a vial was running 5-8000$. Some dogs need more! Red Rock protects dogs for a year for 40$!

He and the other pharmacists would gift the outdated antivenin to the vets as long as they didnt sell it to the customers. Had to offer it for free. Many pet owners will not pay the high cost of antivenin so the free outdated stuff saved the dogs lives.

Goldens are the worse as far as getting bit. I have 3 and I live in snake country and already its saved two of my dogs. Makes a severe bite bad and a bad bite minor.

Still, take them to the vet as snakes mouths are filled with bacteria.

What a hero! He deserves extra-special treatment for the rest of the year.
