American flag rules

I had an interesting encounter while doing a photoshoot in city park for an immigrant family who just became citizens. The theme was American flag. Different poses, like holding in front, or placing it on the ground in front and just trying different things with it. A teenager was passing through while biking and (kinda rudely) intervened: “Isn’t there a rule that you can’t put it on the ground?!”. Do you think it was a MAGA person or it was my bad and I should have known better? I am truly not sure, the family was obviously demonstrating American pride but they were asian and speaking Chinese among themselves so I don’t know if it played any role. I felt like I got schooled by a teenager.

I'm sure no MAGA, and I would have let you know as gently as possible that, despite your good intentions, you were actually desecrating the flag that you and those proud new citizens meant to honor.

4. Lots of people do, but I don't think we are supposed to put an Am flag on ground.

Wouldn’t worry about it, I’ve seen GOPers do it. Heck, trump wasn’t supposed to hug a flag, but did during one of his crazy rallies.

9. No expert, but I think on a wall is fine. Again, I'm not that big into flags and rules.

Lots of innocent people have been killed, hurt, intimidated under our flag.

Google “US Flag Code” for more. A lot of what the NFL does violates the Flag Code. Gives the players a lot to protest.

which are quite old so I wasn’t sure if some of them were outdated. I am now thinking that may be the guy thought I was maga, lol.

Thanks God I didn’t take a photo of myself with the flag upside down on July 4th as a statement that our country is upside down (I was thinking of doing that and post on facebook). Thanks for all the answers. I feel good about our fellow citizens! and kudos to the boy who knows better. Never too late to brush up on the flag rules.

... since many of them violate the rules about wearing the flag as clothing, inappropriate display, etc.

There's a meme out there somewhere of a MAGA-wearing guy sitting in the grass on a US flag. Definitely dishonorable, but hey, he's a patriot!
